During this year’s Salone del Mobile, held during mid-April in Milan, French-born designer Patrick Jouin sat down in the Kartell booth with RECORD to discuss his new chair design for the Italian plastic furnishings company. Read on.

	Chicago • KBIS July 2008 This year's Kitchen & Bath Industry Show held in April experienced its largest turnout ever, with nearly 1,000 exhibitors and more than 45,000 attendees. The good news: Style and technology converged for a greener product offering that scored high marks in terms of both aesthetics and function.
	Orlando • IBS June 2008 For residential and light construction, the International Builders’ Show is the largest there is. This year, more than 1,900 suppliers showcased their most innovative products in 1 million net square feet of exhibition space. The focus: energy efficiency, the environment, performance—and design.
	Verona • Marmomacc May 2008 The ancient and the high-tech met last October at Marmomacc, the 42nd International Exhibition of Stone Design and Technology in Verona, Italy, featuring innovative material applications alongside classic stones, some quarried since antiquity.
	Bologna • Cersaie April 2008 Tile is the thing at Cersaie, the ceramic-and-bath trade’s annual exhibition in Bologna, Italy. For its 25th anniversary, held October 2–6, 2007, more than 1,000 exhibitors displayed such diverse trends as super-size formats, black-and-white motifs, metallic accents and—of course—faux stone. 	London • 100% Design February 2008 With its mix of multinational companies and independent craftsman sitting cheek by jowl, London’s 100% Design offers the opportunity to see both Europe’s Next Big Thing and the latest idiosyncratic products. 	CEDIA January 2008 To see what’s cutting the edge of residential technology, the annual Custom Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) trade event is the place to be. 	NeoCon September 2007 For the first time in NeoCon’s history, a lighting fixture took home the Best of NeoCon Award. The slim Brazo LED task light beat out 426 other entries, an indication of the growing importance of the adjustability, sustainability, and ultimately, the health of our personal work spaces. 	Milan Furniture Fair August 2007 Walking the rows of this renowned furniture fair, held this year during an uncomfortably warm week in mid-April, it’s easy to spot the latest work by the industry’s top product designers, many of whom are also architects. 	Euroluce August 2007 This year marked the debut of the biennial Euroluce exhibition at the new Rho-Pero fairgrounds in Milan. Exhibitors made the most of the occasion by creating fantastic booths that put clever and often futuristic fixtures center stage.

	Lightfair International August 2007 While not every exhibitor displayed LEDs at this year’s Lightfair International, held in New York City in early May, the energy-efficient systems were the stars of the show. Below we highlight both LED and non-LED standouts.

	Las Vegas • Kitchen & Bath Industry Show July 2007 Once largely national in scope, the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show has evolved into an influential international exposition. This May, a record-breaking 44,000 professionals filled three halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center to visit more than 1,000 exhibits representing the world’s top designers and manufacturers—including those from North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

	Stockholm • Stockholm Furniture Fair May 2007 The Stockholm Furniture Fair is gaining international prominence. This year’s February event hosted almost 41,000 visitors from around the world and served as a launch pad for the Nordic countries’ most prestigious manufacturers, such as Swedese and fjordfiesta.

	Cologne • International Furniture Fair April 2007 imm Cologne has the distinction of not only being the first furniture fair of the year, but one of the biggest. The ideal venue for Northern European companies to present their latest creations, imm also boasts one of the most international displays of furniture design anywhere. 	Bologna • Cersaie March 2007 With more than 1,000 exhibitors in 2006, Cersaie showcased a dizzying array of tiles with trends toward historically sourced floral prints, kitschy patterns, and gleaming metallic finishes. Cersaie Review 2004

	London • 100% Design February 2007 While Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile represents the pinnacle of furniture-fair style, the London event 100% Design is a reference point for pathbreaking ideas and homegrown talent.

	CEDIA January 2007 It started out as a trade show built largely around multi-room music systems and home theater, but the annual CEDIA Expo, sponsored by the Custom Electronics Design & Installation Association, has grown into the signature trade event for a wide swath of custom electronics. 	SIDIM September 2006 Last May, Montreal’s interior design show, SIDIM, displayed a range of local and international talent.
